Commissioned by myself and Sharon Mansur, Depth of Perception was choreographed by David Dorfman to an original score by Chris Peck. The duet moves through hops and weight shifts that build into leaps and lifts, then stops cold to pose provocative questions to each other and to the audience. Writing in the Washington Post, Claire Croft described the two of us streaming through those shifts and pausing, mid-phrase, to ask the unaskable.

The piece traveled for the better part of a decade — from Dance Place in Washington, DC (2004) to the Kennedy Center (2005), the WSU Performing Arts Center in Winona, Minnesota (2006), and the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center in College Park, Maryland (2012).
